Jharkhand received the Gold Medal for its performance as the Focus State at the 44th India International Trade Fair (IITF) 2025, bringing the state to the centre of this year’s exhibition at Bharat Mandapam. The award recognised the pavilion’s design, coordination and the way it presented a mix of culture, craft and emerging enterprise.

The pavilion stood out for its balanced approach. Traditional crafts were displayed alongside newer products, while live demonstrations helped visitors understand the work behind each item. Crowds remained steady throughout the fair, with many describing the pavilion as one of the more engaging sections this year.

Sales across artisan-led stalls were strong. Brassware from Kariyatpur, tasar and handloom products from Jharkraft, bamboo craft, fusion jewelry and a range of tribal handmade items drew continuous interest. Exhibitors reported brisk business, noting that the final day saw a marked rise in footfall as buyers queued for closing-day offers.

Several government departments contributed to the pavilion’s wider appeal. Stalls set up by the Information and Public Relations Department, Industries, Tourism, IT, Ranchi Smart City, Forest and Climate Change, Mines and Geology, the Chief Minister’s Small Industries initiative and the Matikala Board offered visitors information on schemes, services and investment opportunities. The use of UPI-based digital payments eased transactions and helped vendors handle the crowd without delays.

Officials said the pavilion aimed to present Jharkhand as a state where cultural heritage and modern economic aspirations are moving together. The coordination between departments, artisans and small industries reflected this effort. Trade visitors noted that the pavilion gave a clearer view of the state’s strengths in handloom, craft, tourism and technology-backed services.

The medal is seen by many exhibitors as an endorsement of the state’s growing presence on national platforms. They said the fair helped them reach newer markets and build direct links with buyers and traders. The response, they added, underlines the potential for expanding clusters in textiles, handicrafts and rural enterprises.

With this year’s performance, Jharkhand has marked a stronger presence at the IITF. The pavilion drew some of the heaviest footfall during the fair and left visitors with a sense of a state trying to build its identity through a mix of tradition, innovation and enterprise.
